1. Kerala's Padmanabhaswamy temple shot as 10 priests test COVID +ve
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala's Thiruvanthapuram has been temporarily shut till October 15.2020 as 12 staff memebers, including 10 priests, tested positive for coronavirus. "Daily Pujas will be done bt the "tantri", but no "darshan" will be allowed," temple's executive officer V Ratheesan said.
Who tested Positive for COVID-19?
Two cheif Priests, eight sub-priests, eight sub-priests and two guards. However they are all asymptomatic.
2. Over 3,000 properties to be de-sealed by Diwali: Delhi BJP chief
The three BJP-ruled municipal corporations in Delhi will complete the de-sealing of over 3,000 properties in residential areas by Diwali, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta.
The process of de-sealing properties that were "wrongly sealed by the monitoring committee" has begun, he said.
Over 1.300 properties under NDMC, 700 under SDMC and around 1,000 under EDMC will be de-sealed.
3. Manufacturing PMI for Sept highest since Jan 2012: RBI Governor
The manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 56.8 for September 2020, highest since January 2012, RBI Governer Shakitikanta Das said. The services PMI for Septemeber at 49.8 remained in contraction but rose from 41.8 in August, he added. "These expectations are also reflected in our growth projections which suggest that GDP growth may turn positively by Q4," Das further said.
4. RTGS payment system to be available 24x7 from December
The RBI has decided to make available the RGTS system, primarily meant for large value transactions, round the clcock on all days from December. Currently, RTGS is available from 7am to 6pm on all working days of week, expect for the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. In December 2019, NEFT was made available on a 24x7x365 basis.
Minimum amount for RTGS is ₹2lakh
5. TCS overtakes Accenture to become world's most valuable IT company
India's Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) surpassed Accenture for the first time in a year to become world's most valueable information technology company. The market capitalisation of Tata Group Flagship company stood at $144.8 biilion compared with Accenture's $143.75 billion. IBM's market value is currently $117.1 billion.
TCS announced $2.2billion buyback.
6. Piyush Goyal assigned Consumer Affairs Ministry after Paswan's death
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been assigned the additional charge of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, following Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's demise.
Goyal also paid his last respects to the late Union Minister at the latter's residence on Friday - 09.10.2020.
Paswan had passed away aged 74 on Thursday- 08.10.2020 days, after undergoing a heart surgery.
7. Lalu granted bail in treasury case, to remain in jail as another case pending
Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been granted bail by Jharkhand High Court in the Chaibasa treasury case realted to fodder scam. However, he will remain in Jail since the Dumka Treasury case is still pending. Lalu has been undergoing treatment in custody at Rajendra Institue of Medical Sciences - RIMS in Ranchi.
Lalu Prasad has served half his Jail term.
8. Facebook blocks Canadian firm's ad for onion seeds, says it's 'overtly sexual'
Facebook blocked an advertisement for onion seeds by a Canadian company citing a violation of its norms, claiming onions in the picture have an "overtly sexualised" positioning.
Facebook later restored the ad and issued an apology by saying that they use automated tech to keep nudity off the apps.
9. Former Trump fundraiser Broidy charged in foreign lobbying case
Former fundraiser for US President Donald Trump, Elliott Broidy, was charged for violationg a foreign lobbying law by federal authorities. Broidy was accused of accused of accepting $6 million from a foreign client to end a federal investigation regarding the 1MDB fund. He was also accused of seeking the extradition of Chinese citizen from the US.
Broidy expected to plead guilty soon.
10. Delhi govt set up ₹20 cr smog tower in Connaught Place to crub pollution: CM
Delhi Cheif Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday that the state governement will set up a ₹20-crore smong tower in Connaught Place to crub pollution. This tower is in addition to the Central government's smog tower coming up in Anand Vihar. This tower suck the air from the top and release filtered air near the ground, CM Kejriwal added.
The tower will come up in 10months.
